With a foresighted vision to improve health care needs of local population, to contribute towards the advances of Medical sciences and to provide more opportunity to the rural community to peruse Medical education, the Vinayaka Misssion's Educational Trust, with a great zeal , in 1991, started its first Medical College at Salem , Tamilnadu and Offers under graduate program. The College having good infrastructure facilities, class rooms, laboratories, library and well qualified and experienced teching faculty, to facilitate academic and non-academic programs.

BUILDING COMPLEX - COLLEGE: The building complexes include an impressive College Block with its annexes such as Animal House, Mortuary, Cold storage room, Canteen etc. Vast land is available for various outdoor games , entertainment and future expansions.

BUILDING COMPLEX - HOSPITAL: Out - Patient Block catering to daily attendance of nearly 1000 Patients and In Patient Hospital complex with 700 Beds simplify accessibility to all facilities available in the campus for (a) Patient care (b) Teaching and (c) Research which are the major goals of any Medical Institution. There are about 30 villages and small towns around the Medical College and Hospital campus thus providing excellent opportunity for the local population to avail the state of the art medical services on the one hand and providing excellent clinical material for teaching and research purpose on the other.

The College was approved and recognised by the Government and Medical Council of India (MCI), New Delhi. This is a constituent college of the Vinayaka Mission's Research Foundation Deemed University (VMRF-DU) Salem.
